Pierre Audi

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Pierre Audi, a bold artistic mind and a generous spirit whose influence on the operatic world will resonate for generations. Known for his fearless approach to storytelling and his commitment to nurturing new voices, Pierre shaped the operatic landscape with vision, depth, and integrity.

At FEDORA, we were fortunate to count Pierre as a close collaborator and advocator. As a long-standing member of the FEDORA Opera Prize jury, he played an instrumental role in identifying innovative projects and supporting emerging talent across Europe. His keen insight and curiosity helped bring transformative works to life - productions like "Seven Stones", "Woman at Point Zero", and "Innocence", all of which found a platform at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence under his leadership.

Pierre believed deeply in the power of collaboration and in creating space for the new and the daring. Our partnership was grounded in shared values: supporting artistic excellence, fostering co-productions, and expanding access to contemporary opera.

While his absence leaves a profound void, his legacy lives on in the artists he mentored, the works he created and supported, and the communities he helped build. With gratitude, we honour Pierre Audi’s memory - not only as a remarkable director, but as a passionate force for the future of opera.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and to the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence team as well as to all artists and institutions he inspired.
